How much does it cost?

The cost of studying in China is relatively low. The Chinese government and universities also provide a variety of scholarships for overseas students. Scholarship candidate qualifications will only be evaluated on the basis of successful school admission.

Each international applicant is required to pay CUCAS Processing Fee (30 U.S. dollars, which covers your application to six courses) as well as the universities application fee (ranging from 60-120 U.S. dollars per course). For example: When you submit your application for the first time, you need to pay the CUCAS processing fee (which covers your six applications) in addition to the application fee requested by each university.  You will not be asked to pay for another CUCAS processing fee unless you are applying for more than six courses.

The CUCAS processing fee charged is used for the operation and maintenance of the China's University and College Admission System. After receiving the admission notice of the university, you may need to spend:

• Medical examination Fee: The Chinese government requires foreign citizens who wish to study in China to pass a medical examination. You can choose to have the medical examination at your local hospital, for details please consult the local hospital. You can also have the medical examination after you arrive in China. Please be advised that the Chinese Embassy in your country may require applicants who study for over one semester to take a medical examination when you apply for a visa.
• Visa fee: Different countries and regions have different visa fees, please consult your nearest Chinese Embassies and Chinese Consulates.
• Airfare: Different countries and regions have different airfare, please ask your local airlines.

Upon arrival at the university, you may have to pay:

• Tuition: 2000-4000 U.S. dollars a year (depending on the school and major)
• Accommodation: 200-300 U.S. dollars a month (depending on the school and the city where the school is located)
• Insurance: about 100 U.S. dollars (RMB 600) a year
• Medical Examination Fee: (if not already taken in home country): The cost of a medical examination in China depends on each city’s local health and epidemic prevention department. In Beijing the cost is around 100 U.S. dollars.

The cost of living in China is relatively low, the general cost of living in large cities is roughly 200-500 dollars a month, while living in a small city is usually lower than 200 USD a month.

The cost of entertainment and tourism depends on your choice of destination and preferences, the average cost of inter-provincial holiday travel is around 200-500 U.S. dollars.
